OUR PASTOR
Bro. Gaylon Dawson and his wife Jackie have been with Anchor Baptist Church for 26 years. Bro. Dawson was called to preach on June 25, 1975. He continues to rightly divide the Word of Truth even today. His heart in ministry is twofold: To help the lost get saved, To see the saints encouraged in the altars of the church.
After being a boxer at an early age, and progressing to be the Mississippi state golden gloves champion, Brother Dawson was saved in 1973 at an old fashioned revival meeting. This changed his life completely when he gave his life to the Lord. He surrendered to the ministry and three years later started his first church there in Mississippi. After pastoring there the lord moved him to Murfreesboro where in May of 1988 he started Anchor Baptist church. He and his wife Jackie have been faithful to the lord over these years and have seen many souls saved, men called to preach and many lives changed. It is their desire to continue in the Lord's work until He comes or they are called home to heaven.

Anchor Baptist is an independent baptist church. We believe in the fundamental teachings of the bible. Our worship is traditional with hymn singing. We use the King James Bible. We are mission minded, and have a burden for the lost in and around our community.
We support many missionaries, worldwide and home inlcuding boys and girls homes, prison and evangelistic ministries.
